Burn Off

Definition: In relation to drunk driving, burn off is the body's ability to metabolize alcohol and therefore reduce blood alcohol content. The burn off rate of alcohol varies from person to person, due to many factors including weight and age. Generally, the body burns off alcohol at about one ounce per hour.
Also Known As: Metabolize
Examples: It takes six hours for the body to burn off a six pack of beer.
